Very often I look toward films for inspiration. I am also interested in printed matter such as lithography and silkscreen. In this way a single image can be duplicated multiple times or changed slightly. It can be made more available to the masses. The “gallery” can travel and turn up in different places. For this reason, tattoos, books, magazines, posters, etc. appeal to me. I also like the mechanics of the printing medium and what it lends to the construction of the image. I read comic books as well. The idea of creating a scene or stage, and combining characters with dialogue in two-dimensional form fascinates me. Artists who I admire include H.R. Giger, Spider Webb, Annie Sprinkle, Joe Coleman, Robert Williams, Cindy Sherman, Robert Crumb, Frank Miller, and Raymond Pettibon.
I rely on the intuitive when it comes to creating my images. It is after their creation that meanings become clear to me and a story emerges, much like in the dream process. When my efforts accumulate, the final body makes itself apparent.
